LORAIN — Police are investigating a shooting Sunday near Biggy’s Pub and Eatery that left a Lorain man in serious condition at a hospital.
At 12:05 a.m., officers were sent to the bar for a large fight in which one man was shot several times. The man, Jon Jackson Jr., 30, was found stumbling on the street near the parking lot of Biggy’s Pub, where he later fell to the ground, according to a police report.
Police said Jackson had two bullet wounds, in his thigh and hip. Doctors at Mercy Regional Medical Center told police several other gunshot wounds were found. Jackson was transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where he was listed in serious condition Monday night.
Police said Jackson was uncooperative with officers and refused to say who had shot him. Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots and observed a black man in his early 20s, wearing dark clothing, holding a gun in the parking lot of Biggy’s. The man was reportedly with three other men, according to the report.
An officer followed the alleged shooter, who left in a white SUV from the scene, but police lost track of the vehicle after it went over railroad tracks at Oberlin Avenue. Police spokesman Lt. Roger Watkins said no arrests have been made yet but officers are actively investigating.
According to court documents, Jackson is awaiting sentencing on charges of possession of cocaine, having weapons while under disability, using weapons while intoxicated, inducing panic, obstructing official business and discharging a firearm in the city.
