Man arrested after Amherst gas station is robbed by man with baseball bat


AMHERST — A Lorain man was arrested after he allegedly held up a gas station with a baseball bat Sunday.

Marcos Pagan was arrested and taken to the Lorain County Jail.

The Amherst Police Department was dispatched to the Pure Gas station located at 1999 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Sunday in regards to a hold-up alarm sounding Sunday at about at about 11:30 a.m, police said.

The Amherst dispatcher had learned the Pure gas station clerk had been robbed by a male with a dark complexion with dark hair wearing a black-in-color baseball cap, brown-in-color trench coat and driving a black older model vehicle, according to a news release from Amherst police.

The suspect made off with $136 after he had threatened the clerk.

Investigating road officers were able to identify the lone suspect from his license plate as Pagan who resides on North Nantucket Drive in Lorain.

Shortly after the robbery took place, officers attempted to make contact with Pagan at his residence. At that time there was nobody home.

While Officers were obtaining an arrest warrant, officers were tipped that the suspect may have returned home.

Officers began to do surveillance on Pagan’s home. Pagan was observed exiting his house walking to his vehicle, which was in the street.

At this point he was placed under arrest and transported without incidence to the Amherst Police Department.

He was booked and later transported to the Lorain County Jail to await his arraignment at the Oberlin Municipal Court.
