Lasagna directs police to suspect

ELYRIA — A 22-year-old Elyria man was issued a citation after buying “spice,” an illegal form of synthetic marijuana, and giving it to a 16-year-old who police said was high and causing a disturbance Wednesday.

Police were sent to apartments in the 400 block of Wesley Avenue at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a disturbance.

Police arrived to find that the 16-year-old boy had smashed a glass coffee table after taking the drug and was combative with officers when they arrived. The boy was taken to EMH Elyria Medical Center for treatment.

Zachery Wyatt, who was at the apartment, told police he purchased the spice at an Elyria store and had given the boy “two hits” of the cigarette when the boy became agitated.

Police found two vials containing spice as well as a plastic package that read “Devil’s Advocate — 2G Chronic Hypnotic,” which contained two rolled cigarettes.

Wyatt told police that during the teenage boy’s rage, he reinjured his left knee that was previously injured in a car accident. Wyatt declined medical treatment.

Wyatt was issued a misdemeanor citation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was ordered to appear in Elyria Municipal Court at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The 16-year-old was charged with possession of marijuana and ordered to appear in juvenile court.

Police confiscated the spice.
