OBERLIN — An Oberlin man who was placed on probation for having sex with an underage girl and streaming it on the Internet now is charged with breaking into Lorenzo’s Pizzaria and Restaurant, where he was employed.
Max Torgerson, 24, was charged with felony burglary in connection with the break-in on Wednesday that netted $680 in cash, as well as lasagna wrapped in plastic.
A search warrant stated that a shoeprint “with a distinctive herringbone pattern” was found on a storage shed at Lorenzo’s and it matched shoeprints in the mud near Torgerson’s home.
Not only that, but pieces of lasagna were found in the area around his home on Morgan Street, according to the court documents filed by Oberlin Officer Jessica Beyer.
Lorenzo gift certificates and a weekly sales report from the restaurant also were reportedly found near Torgerson’s home about three blocks from the restaurant.
Finally, a computer from Lorenzo’s was missing and there appeared to be drag marks from a computer in a path leading to Torgerson’s home, according to the court documents.
Two Corona beers were missing from the restaurant’s cooler, and two broken beer bottles also were found outside his home, the documents stated.
An inventory stated that Lorenzo’s cash balance was seized in the search.
The search warrant said cash registers were opened using a training code and only a few employees know the codes.
The owner of the restaurant told police that Torgerson had a drug problem and was “very computer savvy,” and his wife had been fired from Lorenzo’s a few months ago.
Torgerson was issued a citation and was arraigned Friday in Oberlin Municipal Court.
Earlier this year, Torgerson and another man avoided prison time when they were convicted of charges they streamed their sexual encounters with an underage girl over the Internet in 2010.
Torgerson was sentenced to five years probation by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge James Burge after pleading guilty to charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, compelling prostitution and importuning.
