AVON LAKE — A 9-year-old boy was LifeFlighted today after he was struck by a car in Avon Lake.
According to police, the child was playing with other children on Deer Run Lane when he chased a ball into the street and was struck by the car just after noon today.
Rescue squads arrived to find him lying in the roadway, according to police. He was taken to the Avon Lake Fire Department, where he was transferred to a LifeFlight helicopter and taken to MetroHealth Regional Medical Center.
According to police, the car that struck the boy was driven by a 53-year-old Avon Lake resident. Lt. Duane Streator described the boy's injuries as serious.
The crash remains under investigation.
