Tuesday, Oct. 9

9:27 a.m. — 100 block West Ave., the principal of Ely School called to say a student reported being approached by a suspicious male while walking home from school Monday. The 9-year-old student said a man, carrying a plastic bag with cans in it, asked if he had seen his Chihuahua dog. The boy told the man he hadn’t seen the dog, and the man continued walking and did not follow the child. He was described as a tan white male in his 30s, wearing khaki pants and a white T-shirt.

6:03 p.m. — 900 block Cleveland St.. reported breaking and entering of Roll Arena. Police said the suspect ransacked the ticket booth area, stealing $95 in cash and broke a video game and ticket machine.

6:50 p.m. — 100 block Hilltop Court, reported theft of a purse from an unlocked vehicle. The purse contained $4 in cash and a driver’s license but no other valuable items.

9:35 p.m. — 100 block Carol Lane, reported theft from a vehicle. The vehicle’s owner said she may have forgotten to lock the vehicle.

Wednesday, Oct. 10

3:38 a.m. — 1400 block West River Road, reported burglary of an apartment. A woman who lives in the apartment told police she was in the shower when she heard a loud crash in her kitchen. Police said the suspect tried to enter through a window and then through a sliding door, lifting the door off its track. The door had fallen on the kitchen table, and the suspect left without taking anything.

2:45 p.m. — 300 block Brace Ave., a woman told police an unknown suspect kicked in her front door and damaged a glass shelf in her living room. No items were found to be missing, and the woman did not know who would break into her home.

Thursday, Oct. 11

12:48 a.m. — 600 block Tillotson St., police said a suspect broke into Sprint Mobile and stole a ZTE Optik Tablet, Motorola Xoom Tablet and iPhone 4S. The male suspect, who appeared to be between 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 6-feet tall, was wearing white gloves, a hat with a hooded sweatshirt and red sweatpants, as seen by the image captured on the store’s security system.
