Friday, Sept. 28

12:40 p.m. — 3000 Midway Mall, Eddie S. Foster, 41, Lorain, charged with theft of $117.50 of items from Macy’s including a jacket and shirt.

3:18 p.m. — 300 block Belmont Ave., man reports items including a television and PlayStation are missing when a tenant moves out.

3:35 p.m. — 1100 Lake Ave., man said he was threatened by a juvenile who arrived to confront his 12-year-old son; the juvenile told police he was the one who was threatened.

4:18 p.m. — 300 block Griswold Road, employee of child learning center reports her new bike was stolen.

4:28 p.m. — Prospect and Stanford avenues, police take complaint about 12-year-old girl beaten up after school.

7:02 p.m. — 200 block Fairlawn Ave., cell phone found in back yard.

7:25 p.m. — Elyria police station, man complains about 300 text messages from his former girlfriend and mother of his child after he took the boy for a haircut.

Saturday, Sept. 29

10:23 a.m. — Twist and Shake, 230 Cleveland St., business broken into, surveillance video shows a man in a dark hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, gloves and white shoes break glass and enter the store.

12:47 p.m. — 1000 block Garden St., resident said the apartment she left vacant for two weeks was burglarized with entry through a smashed kitchen door window. About $750 in clothing, DVDs, electronics and a vacuum cleaner stolen.

1:02 p.m. — 200 block Rhode Island Drive, Deborah Beckwith, 33, same address, arrested and charged with assault. A neighbor of Beckwith’s said as she was pulling into her driveway, Beckwith who had been arguing with the woman’s husband, ran up to her car, spat in her face and scratched her. Police said the woman had redness on her face and a small scratch under her left eye.

3:56 p.m. — 1000 block Middle Ave., resident said a $1,000 computer and $200 in change stolen from a change jar stolen from apartment. Police said the apartment’s back door window was smashed and a chair was propped up against the door.

5:52 p.m. — Police Department, 18 West St., woman said she had a flat tire on Interstate-90 around 3 a.m. and left her red Mercury Milan with Ohio license plate FMW8211, parked unlocked on the highway shoulder. When she returned an hour later, she said the car was gone and area police departments told her they didn’t tow it.

8:15 p.m. — 200 block Cleveland St., Daniel Nieto, 49, same address, arrested and charged with assault. Nieto’s neighbor, whom police said had a swollen left eye and blood near his mouth, said Nieto punched him when he went to use a common bathroom the two share. The neighbor said after he called police and went outside to wait for officers, Nieto confronted him and punched him again as the neighbor went back to his apartment. Nieto, who police said had red knuckles, denied punching the neighbor and said the neighbor’s injuries came from an earlier fight.

Thursday, Sept. 27

8:14 p.m. — Ashland Ave., and West 21st St., Wayne Berens, 56, 200 block of Florida Avenue, Lorain, arrested and charged with drunken driving. Police said Berens nearly caused an accident due to his dangerous driving and failed a field sobriety test. They said he smelled of marijuana, had slurred speech and there was a six-pack in the car he was driving with two beers missing and a used marijuana pipe was found in the car. Berens, whom police said had drunken driving convictions in 1994, 1997 and 2004, registered a .192 blood alcohol content – more than twice the legal limit - in a breathalyzer test, according to a police report.

Friday, Sept. 28

6:03 a.m. — 2700 block Caroline Ave., corrections officer reports someone stole a “man down” portable Motorola unit from his vehicle.

8:56 a.m. — 400 block Florida Ave., veteran reports medicine stolen from mailbox.

11:02 a.m. — 2700 block Caroline Ave., two vehicles entered and car stereo removed.

12:40 p.m. — 1700 block Crehore St., woman told police her mother used her personal information to obtain $300 worth of cable services.

5:06 p.m. — 6200 block Hidden Creek Drive, resident reports fraudulent use of bank card in Nebraska.

11:22 p.m. — 3900 block Gary Ave, Todd S. Miller, 47, same address, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication and persistent disorderly conduct. Police said Miller was drunk and profane and repeatedly refused to quiet down during a family dispute in which his stepdaughter said he refused to let her back inside her home because she called police on him.

Saturday, Sept. 29

6:48 a.m. - Mercy Regional Medical Center, 3700 Kolbe Road, woman said she was walking in the 1100 block of West Eight Street between 2:45 a.m. and 3 a.m. when she was attacked from behind by four people dressed all in black . She said they knocked her down and may have struck her with a bat or a stick.

7:01 a.m. — 3800 block Denver Ave., woman said she and her friend gave a ride to two men to a gas station. The woman said the men became angry when she and her friend wouldn’t take them to a different gas station. She said both men slapped her and punched her vehicle and then one of the men through a brick through the rear door window before they ran south on Denver. The woman, whom police said had a swollen upper right cheek, refused hospitalization.

11:45 a.m. —1300 block Massachusetts Ave, resident said $250 lawnmower and gas can stolen off back patio of home overnight.

5:14 p.m. — 3300 block of Eagle Ave., woman said a man she has a temporary protection order against came to her home and threatened to break into her residence at night and, “(expletive) her up.” The woman signed a violation of a protection order and was advised to contact the prosecutor’s office.

5:17 p.m. — Police Department, 100 W. Erie Ave., woman said ex-boyfriend has made numerous threatening phone calls and sent threatening text messages including one that said, “You’re dead (expletive).” Police said the last address the woman give for the man was several years old and advised her to contact the prosecutor’s office.

10:53 p.m. — 100 block Burns Road, resident said her home was burglarized while she was away with about $200 in cash and jewelry stolen. Police said the front door jamb to the home was smashed and a window was opened with the screen removed and the window blinds on the carpet.

10:16 p.m. — 10600 block Indian Hollow Road in Carlisle Township, domestic disturbance.
