ELYRIA — A LaGrange Township teenager who broke into the homes of three girls he knew and stole underwear and jewelry was sentenced today to five years of probation and 90 days in the Lorain County Jail.
Larry Moore, 19, had been facing up to eight years in prison for each of the three counts of burglary he pleaded guilty to earlier this year.
But county Common Pleas Judge James Burge told Moore that he didn’t think he could handle prison. The judge warned Moore that if he violates the terms of his probation, which includes sex offender counseling, that he would send him to prison for seven years.
Sheriff’s deputies determined that Moore broken into the homes of the three then-17-year-old girls and stole underwear, bras, swimsuits and jewelry. Moore acknowledged during today’s hearing that he knew all of the victims in the case.
He also said that he had been drinking, smoking marijuana and using heroin.
