FLORENCE TWP. — The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car crash that resulted in one critical injury.
According to the patrol, the crash occurred at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Mason and Joppa roads.
Kenneth Criss, 60, of Amherst, and Mary Jimes, 53, of Vermilion, were involved in the crash.
Criss was traveling westbound in a 2004 Kenworth truck owned by Ferrell Gas LP of Norwalk. Jimes was traveling northbound in a 2000 Dodge Dakota truck and failed to yield at a stop sign, according to troopers.
Troopers said Jimes’ vehicle hit the truck, which overturned onto its right side before hitting a ditch. Jimes’ vehicle went off the left side of Mason Road.
Criss was transported by North Central EMS to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries.
Jimes had critical injuries and was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to troopers.
Jimes was listed in critical condition Wednesday morning, according to a nursing supervisor.
The patrol said alcohol did not appear to be a factor, and no citations were issued at the time of the accident.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
