A three-car accident around 4:40 p.m. Thursday on state Route 58 near the Butternut Ridge Road intersection in New Russia Township is believed to be the result of a driver having a diabetic reaction.
Driver Patricia Dunn’s 1997 Buick Regal rear-ended a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, according to Trooper Shawn Kline of the Elyria post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The Equinox rolled onto its hood, but driver Linda Wasil, 55, of Wellington, was not seriously injured, Kline said.
Kline said Dunn continued driving after hitting the Equinox and clipped another car’s mirror before crashing into a utility pole.
Kline said Dunn, 47, of North Ridgeville, was taken to St. John Medical Center in Westlake with non-life-threatening injuries.
Kline said the accident remains under investigation, but Dunn is likely to be charged.
