LORAIN — The South Lorain post office will close after Sept. 9.
All services will move to the facility at 3190 Colorado Ave, which will include retail and 24-hour P.O. boxes, beginning Sept. 10.
The shuttering of the East 28th Street building has been a long time coming due to budget cuts resulting from declining mail volume and competition from for-profit package delivery companies such as UPS and FedEx.
The South Lorain post office is one of three satellites — also known as branches or stations — of the main Lorain post office at 439 W. Fourth St. The others are at 4214 Ivanhoe Ave. in Sheffield Lake and 350 N. Leavitt Road in Amherst.
Stamps will still be offered for sale at Marc’s, 170 Sheffield Center; Walgreens, 2730 Broadway; and Discount Drug Mart, 2253 Colorado Ave.
