ELYRIA — A Lorain man had to be Life Flighted after he tried to commit suicide by jumping from the Broad Street Bridge overnight, according to a police report.
Raymond Little Jr., 35, is in good condition today, according to a MetroHealth Medical Center spokeswoman.
Officers arrived in the area of Tannery and Broad streets about 10:40 after receiving a report of an attempted suicide.
Officers found Little lying on his stomach under the Broad Street Bridge. It was a about a 25-foot fall, according to the report.
Little told officers he couldn't move his legs and that he had attempted to commit suicide because he was having a mid-life crisis. He said he also had pain in his shoulder.
According to the report, Little appeared to have a compound fracture in his right leg, and a bone was sticking out of his leg about his right ankle. His left ankle was injured as well, the report said, with the ankle swollen severely and his foot turned in an unnatural direction.
Little told officers he had psychiatric problems and was on medication. Little was taken by ambulance to EMH Regional Medical Center and was then Life Flighted to MetroHealth.
Officers completed a Nord Center evaluation of Little, the report said.
