Lorain County is under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. tonight and will be under a high-wind warning from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the National Weather Service, low pressure will strengthen as it moves east across the lower Great Lakes tonight, and a cold front associated with the low will sweep across the area. The winds will turn west to southwest behind the front and become strong toward morning.
Winds overnight will increase to 20 mph to 30 mph, with gusts reaching 45 mph after midnight. On Saturday, winds will increase to 30 mph to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. The highest gusts are expected near the lake.
The National Weather Service warns that damage to trees, power lines and property is possible. Use extreme caution when operating high-profile vehicles and stay tuned to TV and radio for updates.
