Elyria man indicted on murder charge in apartment invasion


ELYRIA — An Elyria man has been indicted on murder and other charges in connection with a botched robbery late last year that left two dead and a third man injured.

Brady Phillips, 38, face two counts each of murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary, six counts of felonious assault. He is also facing charges of tampering with evidence and having weapons under disability.

He could get life in prison if convicted.

Elyria police have said Phillips and Herminio Serrrano forced their way into the David Drive apartment shared by David McDonough and Michael Stump on Dec. 20.

In the ensuing scuffle, Serrano shot Stump, who died the next day. McDonough was shot in the abdomen, but managed to shoot and kill Serrano. Police said Phillips fled the scene and was ar-rested the next day.

McDonough has since been released from the hospital.
