Turnpike stop nets 90 pounds of pot

AMHERST TWP. — An Arkansas man was charged by state troopers Tuesday after a search of his pickup on the Ohio Turnpike netted nearly 90 pounds of marijuana.

Adam Liebling, 53, of Leslie, Ark., was charged with felony possession of drugs, according to the Elyria post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Lt. Travis A. Hughes of the post’s criminal investigation division said in a report that Liebling was eastbound when troopers pulled him over at 9:51 a.m. Tuesday near state Route 58 for an unspecified traffic violation. A drug detection dog used by troopers indicated there may be drugs, which led to a search.

The search produced nearly 90 pounds of marijuana, which were found in two suitcases in the cab of the pickup, and in a number of trash bags in the bed of the truck, the report said.

Leibling was taken to the Lorain County Jail, where he was being held pending a court appearance.
