Walgreens suspect indicted for murder in Cuyahoga County

A Cleveland man accused of being involved in the gunpoint robbery of a Lorain drug store has been indicted on charges stemming from a robbery last month that left a woman dead on the floor of a Cleveland laundromat.

Jeremiah Jackson, 29, is accused of killing 38-year-old Tracy Pickryl when he robbed the Soap Opera Laundry on West 25th Street in Cleveland on June 18. According to prosecutors, Jackson held a gun on Pickryl and demanded money from her.

After she gave him $6, he yanked jewelry off her and shot her in the head, according to a news release from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. Jackson then allegedly forced a laundromat employee into the back office and demanded money from her.

After she gave him $75, he allegedly fired a shot at her head. She fell to the ground, but had not been hit.

Jackson also was indicted, along with 31-year-old Maurice Harrison, also of Cleveland, in a string of robberies in Cleveland, Lorain and Sandusky.

According to the news release, the pair shot a 40-year-old man in the stomach while robbing his East 54th Street home in Cleveland. The victim escaped by jumping through a window.

Prosecutors say that three days later, on June 5, Jackson stole a .38-caliber gun from a friend’s car in Cleveland.

Jackson and Harrison are accused of striking again on June 15, robbing a 27-year-old employee at a car wash on Fleet Avenue in Cleveland of $249. About 30 minutes later, the pair allegedly pistol whipped and robbed a 38-year-old man at a bar in Cleveland, taking his cell phone wallet and $117. They then allegedly forced the 58-year-old bartender to open the cash register and give them $150.

On June 17, Jackson and Harrison are accused of robbing the Brickhouse Bar & Grill in Cleveland about 1:30 a.m., forcing a couple to the floor and making the 27-year-old bartender open the register and give him $400. They then allegedly forced her downstairs before fleeing.

Prosecutors say the two then headed to Sandusky, where they allegedly robbed the Howard Johnson Express Inn by putting a gun to the head of the 20-year-old front desk clerk. They reportedly made off with $161 and the hotel’s security monitor after binding the clerk’s hands and feet with duct tape.

Police say about an hour later the men then robbed the Walgreens on Leavitt Road in Lorain, putting a 61-year-old customer from LaGrange in a headlock with a gun to his head and taking his car keys, cell phone and wallet before forcing him into a storage closet. They also allegedly threw a drink bottle at an employee and searched two other employees at the store before fleeing.

Harrison was arrested on an unrelated drug charge on June 18, while Jackson was arrested June 20.

Jackson faces 55 charges: three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted murder, 23 counts of aggravated robbery, seven counts of kidnapping, four counts of felonious assault, 11 counts of robbery, one count of theft and four counts of having weapons under disability.

Harrison faces 42 charges: one count of attempted murder, 18 counts of aggravated robbery, five counts of kidnapping, three counts of felonious assault, 11 counts of robbery and four counts of having weapons under disability.
