A woman wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a gas station was arrested Monday at the Nord Center, Lorain police Detective Dennis Moskal said.
Bobbie Stottlemire, 38, of Lorain, surrendered to police without a fight and was charged with aggravated robbery, Moskal said.
"I think she wanted to get off the streets. She has some drug issues," he said.
Police said Stottlemire was behind the Feb. 20 robbery at Valero gas station, 3217 Oberlin Ave.
A clerk there told investigators that a woman – who Moskal said was identified in surveillance photos Monday by about a dozen tipsters as Stottlemire – walked in just before 11 p.m. and asked for Fix-a-Flat tire caulk.
When the clerk said the store didn`t have any, the suspect stuck her right hand in her coat pocket and said, "I have a gun, gimme the money," according to a Lorain police report.
The clerk told police that at first she thought Stottlemire was kidding because she was a regular at the gas station. But Stottlemire continued to demand money and the clerk handed over $100.
Moskal said there`s no evidence right now to suggest Stottlemire actually had a gun.
County common pleas court records show Stottlemire was convicted in 2002 with aggravated robbery, burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.
