Weather forecast for Thanksgiving dinnertime: Not too hot

ELYRIA - The cold and rain today are supposed to be so miserable that even the turkey will be happy to spend time in a nice, warm oven.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland is saying a mix of rain and snow is a sure bet early Thanksgiving morning.

But temperatures aren`t likely to climb much above 37 degrees today.

Most of the day`s snow will fall east of Cleveland, said Ray Diederich of North Ridgeville, who retired this summer after 58 years as a National Weather Service observer.

"If you want the picturesque trip with the snow to Grandma`s house, we don`t usually get it," he laughed.

Diederich said to expect just a light dusting, which will disappear quickly because the ground still holds too much warmth.

The evening drive home will have temperatures dropping to 25 degrees, according to the forecast.

Black Friday will be mainly clear and just above freezing with the odd flurry dogging shoppers` steps as they rush around on their hunt.

The sun should make an appearance by Sunday, bringing temperatures in the low- to mid-40s, the National Weather Service said.
