Pastor leaves hospital

Minister`s son awaits trial on charges of murdering mother

WELLINGTON - A Wellington preacher who police say was shot in the face by his son has been released from the hospital.

The Rev. Mark Petric, 45, was discharged Friday night from MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, according to a hospital spokeswoman. He spent 27 days there, many of them spent fighting for his life in surgery and in the intensive care unit.

Sheriff`s Capt. Rich Resendez said Petric is staying with family, but would not say with whom or where.

Neighbors said they had not seen him return to his Peck-Wadsworth Road home in Brighton Township, where he and his wife, Sue Petric, were shot Oct. 20.

But they did say people had been at the house frequently over the past few weeks.

Petric has family in nearby Litchfield, and his 21-year-old daughter, Heidi Archer, lives in the area with her husband, Andrew Archer.

Police say the Petrics` 16-year-old son, Daniel Petric, shot his mother three times, in the shoulder, forearm and head, and shot his father once in the face. His mother, 43-year-old Sue Petric, died at the house.

Daniel remains in the county jail on a $1 million bond, awaiting trial in county Common Pleas Court, where he will be tried as an adult.

Mark Petric is pastor of the New Life Assembly of God on West Street.
