KETTERING,— Discovery of a grenade in a home prompted the evacuation of about a dozen houses in the Dayton suburb of Kettering.

Kettering police spokesman Bill Torok says the rifle-launched grenade was found in a locked trunk by Michelle Hutchinson, who was going through the possessions of her recently deceased father, a World War II veteran.

The bomb squad removed the grenade from the home and detonated it in an isolated area nearby.
