LORAIN — A 34-year-old Lorain woman told police a 19-year-old woman hit her in the face with a metal pipe Sunday after an argument escalated.
Police found Stephanie Roddy with a gaping cut on the side of her cheek when they arrived at 11:30 p.m. at her sister’s house along the 2100 block of Lorain Drive.
The cut had sliced through her cheek, the report said, and the inside of her mouth could be seen through the hole. Roddy sustained possible nerve and muscle damage and was transported to University Hospital in Cleveland.
Roddy told police that she had confronted 19-year-old Shamara L. Whitfield for assaulting her niece when Whitfield struck her in the face with the pipe.
Officers located Whitfield at her home, who refused to comment about the incident, according to the report.
Although no pipe was located, police charged Whitfield with felonious assault and took her to the Lorain County Jail.
