EATON TWP. — The four motorcycle riders who were flown to a Cleveland hospital following a multiple injury crash Saturday will require surgery to repair their broken limbs, said Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Christopher Ausse.
Raymond Anderson, 52, of Olmsted Township, Ronald Ogrosky, 33, of Georgia, Lori Robinson, 37, of Brook Park, and Alma Solice, 52, of Northfield, were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center following the 6 p.m. accident.
They remained in stable condition Sunday while awaiting their surgeries, Ausse said.
Joseph Ogrosky, 37, of North Royalton, was receiving treatment Sunday at EMH Regional Medical Center, and Steven Secolic, 36, of Brook Park, was treated at the scene.
Those injured were drivers and passengers in a group of six motorcycles that were traveling together westbound on state Route 82 in Eaton Township, Ausse said.
One that was following too closely struck a lead cycle that was braking, causing a chain reaction in which five crashed, according to troopers. One bike caught fire and burned completely.
Secolic was charged with driving while intoxicated and following too close, Ausse said. More riders could be charged pending an investigation, he said.
Troopers had to deal with at least two other vehicle accidents Sunday, including one that involved another motorcycle in Eaton Township.
In that crash, which occurred about 3 p.m., 40-year-old Greg Brochak lost control of his bike as he went up the entrance ramp on state Route 10 eastbound from state Route 57, Trooper Jeff Kaess said. The bike fell on Brochak’s right leg, fracturing it.
Brochak was charged with driving while intoxicated.
In Wellington Township, 19-year-old Ashley Diederick had a seizure while driving northbound on state Route 58. She lost control of her vehicle, which careened and overturned, Kaess said.
Diederick was treated and released from Allen Memorial Hospital, Kaess said.
“She’s OK, but she has to get checked to see if she is safe to get behind the wheel,” he said.
Two passengers who were in the vehicle with Diederick were not injured.
