Government offices at the city, county, state and federal levels will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day. The exception will be safety services such as police and fire departments, which will be on duty as usual. Schools will be closed, with classes resuming Tuesday.
Post offices, E-check emission stations and banking institutions will also be closed for the day, except for those that have in-store branches and ATM services.
The city and Allied Waste Services will not pick up trash Monday, but both will resume trash collection services on Tuesday. Routes will run a day behind, with the pickup scheduled for Friday being done Saturday.
Lorain County Transit buses will be idle; however, taxi services will be available throughout the area. Most retail and convenience stores will be open, although some may adopt holiday hours.
