Man fires gun next to fiancee's head

EATON TWP. — A domestic violence call turned ugly on Sunday morning when an Eaton Township man shot a gun next to his fiancee’s head while at least five children were sleeping in the home, a sheriff deputy’s report said.

Anthony Hein, 48, was charged with domestic violence, carrying a concealed weapon, attempted felonious assault, inducing panic, having weapons under disability, using weapons while intoxicated, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest.

Six deputies were called to Hein’s Melody Lane home just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, arriving to find five children fleeing from the house and Hein’s fiancee, a 44-year-old woman, fleeing in a car, the report said.

Not until a deputy apprehended Hein in the backyard did the woman agree to return to the house. She told deputies that Hein had returned home that morning drunk and was complaining about the children who were at the home for a sleepover, the report said.

An argument ensued, and Hein pinned the woman up against a garage wall and pointed a loaded .38-caliber handgun at her face, the report said. When the woman pushed the gun away from her face, Hein fired the gun next to the side of her head.

The children fled the home until deputies arrived, and the gun was eventually found on a shelf in the garage, the report said.
