The stinky flower bloomed

It took 13 years, but the rare titan arum plant at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo finally is in full bloom.  As expected, the massive flowering plant opened up early this morning to reveal its magnificent beauty -- and its pungent odor.

Horticulture enthusiasts and anyone who's curious can see the titan arum today on the ground floor of the Zoo's RainForest. Due to high interest in this blooming, there may be extended wait times to see the plant, zoo officials said.

You better hurry if you want to see it. Zoo horticulturist Don Krock said it will start wilting tomorrow morning and will most likely be completely gone by tomorrow evening.

The zoo is open until 5 p.m. today and will reopen tomorrow at 10 a.m. Admission is $10 per person, $5 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children under 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free.
