KSU Honors Grad - Hughes

Hannah Hughes, an '09 Midview graduate, is to be congratulated as she graduated with honors of the highest level, Summa cum laude, from Kent State University on May 11, 2013.

Hannah was recently inducted into the National Collegiate Honors Society, Phi Beta Kappa Nu of Ohio. Hannah has earned her Bachelor's degree with a major in French and a major in International Relations. Hannah has received many awards and academic scholarships during her undergraduate career and was recently chosen by her department for the Distinguished Student Leadership Award, recognizing her dedication and work for the last three years as a tutor and mentor at KSU. Hannah also co-founded Kent's first running club, which, continues on today.

Hannah has had many wonderful experiences along the way. She has studied in Bordeaux, France, where she hiked through the Alps and vacationed on the Riviera, in Nice. She not only enjoyed the splendid country of France but she also cultivated friendships that span the globe. Hannah spent time in Poland with the Hanhouse Project, where she used her artistic gifts to paint the ornate interior panels in a recreation of a pre - WWII Jewish synagogue.

Hannah has happily accepted an assistantship, with full scholarship support, from Kent State,where she will remain to teach and earn her masters degree in French Translation. Hannah plans to continue working toward a PHD to become a college professor. She also plans to work in the publishing industry, translating French novels. Hannah's parents, Patrick and Susan Hughes, along with her siblings Hailey, Shannon and James, as well as many other family and friends are so very proud of Hannah's accomplishments.

As one of her professors described her "Hannah is remarkable and extraordinary."
