High school roundup: Keystone's Sydney Campbell extends win streak with perfect game


LAGRANGE — Sydney Campbell sure knows how to make a milestone memorable.

The Keystone senior won her 50th straight game Thursday, throwing a five-inning perfect game in a 10-0 Patriot Athletic Conference crossover win over Columbia.

Campbell had eight strikeouts in improving to 12-0 on the season. It was her sixth career perfect game.

Nautica Barber had a single and a double to lead the offense for the ’Cats (13-0, 9-0), who jumped on the Raiders (9-5, 5-3) with six runs in the first inning.

Kaylie Griffin was 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double and three runs, while Sarah was 4-for-4 with a double and three runs and Stephanie, who also got the win, was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple as EC improved to 10-6, 4-3 in the Great Lakes Conference.

Loren Denman was 3-for-4 with a double and Julia Allegretto had a double and a home run for EC.

The senior not only threw a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts, he also hit a two-run home run to lead the Panthers (5-6, 3-3) in GLC action.

Of the Panthers’ eight hits, four went for extra bases as Brenden Holley also had a home run and Grant McClure and Aidan Timko had doubles. Mason Doll was 2-for-3.
