Volleyball: Brookside's Whitsel, EC's O'Shaughnessy named 2nd team All-Ohio

Seniors Kady Whitsel of Brookside and Catherine O’Shaughnessy of Elyria Catholic were named second team All-Ohio by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association.

Whitsel led the Cardinals to the best record in school history (21-2) and a Patriot Athletic Conference Stars Division championship.

O’Shaughnessy was a big reason the Panthers went 21-4, claimed a West Shore Conference championship and made it to the Division III district title match.

Clearview junior Heather Younkin was named to the Division II second team after helping the Clippers go 22-3, win a Patriot Athletic Conference Stripes Division championship and finish their season as district semifinalists.

Avon Lake senior Whitney Craigo, who was key to the Shoregals going 19-6, defending their Southwestern Conference championship and advancing to a district title match, and Magnificat senior Cayley Balser, a Grafton resident, were third-team selections in Division I.

Shoregals senior Christine Bohan and Elyria junior Alexis Middlebrooks were named honorable mention in

Division I.
