AVON -- A proposed 2.25-mill property tax increase to build an approximately $32 million new middle school will be on the November ballot.
The Avon board of education unanimously approved the levy proposal Tuesday evening.
While the proposal calls for an additional $68.92 for the owner of a home valued at $100,000, the actual annual cost works out to $38.29 due to debt restructuring, said Avon Schools treasurer Kent Zeman. The restructuring involves borrowing costs for Avon High School being paid off in 2014, he said.
