The area’s two football teams still alive in the postseason found out Sunday where they’ll be playing Round 2.

The news was good for both.

The 11-0 Eagles downed St. John’s Jesuit 28-12 in the first round, while Highland (9-2) defeated Anthony Wayne 21-14.

In Division V, Region 17, third-seeded Black River will play seventh-seeded Wickliffe in a semifinal on Friday night at North Ridgeville Ranger Stadium at 7:30.

The Pirates (10-1) blew out sixth-seeded Gilmour Academy 44-13 in the opening round, while Wickliffe (8-3) pulled off a 25-22 upset of second-seeded and undefeated Grand Valley, which came in ranked fourth in the state.

According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association, higher-seeded teams went 83-29 in the opening round.
