Roundup: Banyasz, Bican lead Columbia past Brooklyn


BROOKLYN — John Banyasz completed 10 of 15 passes for 155 yards and four touchdowns to lead Columbia to a 43-13 win over Brooklyn on Friday in Patriot Athletic Conference Stripes Division action.

Zac Bican caught two of the Raiders’ (6-2, 4-1 PAC) touchdown passes and also had 18 carries for 118 yards, including a 5-yard TD run.

Brandon Heidinger had 11 carries for 67 yards and one touchdown for the Raiders.

Clearview 40, Lutheran West 14

FAIRVIEW PARK — Roger Engle threw touchdown passes to Clifton Brown and Josh Molina for the Clippers (3-5, 3-2 PAC).

Alonso Southard returned an interception 41 yards for a Clearview touchdown and closed out the game’s scoring with a 45-yard TD run. Brown also caught a 16-yard TD pass from Matt Jordan, while Chad Anderson scored the Clippers’ sixth touchdown on a 2-yard run.

Greg Kunze caught a 9-yard TD pass from Dan Hillenbrand for the Longhorns (1-7, 1-4 PAC), while teammate Paul Herrin recovered a fumble in the end zone for Lutheran West’s other touchdown.

Olmsted Falls 28, Amherst 21

AMHERST — Two fourth-quarter fumbles hurt the Comets, who were looking to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Comets (1-7, 0-5 Southwestern Conference) had a 21-20 lead with just under seven minutes left to play before a lost fumble led to a 2-yard touchdown run by Bulldogs quarterback Brennan Laird.

Amherst’s last drive also ended in a lost fumble, giving its sixth straight win.

Eric Lamb hooked up with Anthony Colozza and Tom Gula for two of the Comets touchdowns. Logan Mahar’s 2-yard run accounted for the third Amherst touchdown.

Olmsted Falls improved to 6-2, 5-0.

North Olmsted 28, Berea 20

NORTH OLMSTED — Sophomore quarterback Brad Novak had 18 carries for 107 yards for the Eagles (4-4, 3-2 SWC).

Novak also completed six of 11 passes for 102 yards, including a 47-yard TD pass to Marc Remy.

North Olmsted’s Alan Babinec intercepted a Braves pass in the closing seconds to preserve the win.
