ELYRIA — A man was struck and killed by a Norfolk Southern train around 4:05 p.m. today at North Street between West Bridge and Chestnut streets, just south of Harr Plaza.
The shirtless, unidentified white man in his 40s or 50s was lying on the south side of the tracks a few feet from the train when police officers covered his body with a sheet around 4:55 p.m. Firefighter Bryant Lieux said a Norfolk Southern employee told him the man was lying on the tracks and sat up before being struck. The incident is under investigation.
