The deadline to register to vote in the November general election is today, and the Lorain County Board of Elections will be open until 9 p.m.
Those wanting to register to vote can do so online by visiting www.loraincountyelections.com or by dropping off a completed voter registration form before the deadline Tuesday.
Since June 1, there have been 6,873 newly register voters in the county, according to the board of election Director Paul Adams. The community with the largest increase in voter registration has been the city of Lorain with 2,156 newly registered voters, followed by Elyria with 1,077.
Lorain County currently has 212,875 register voters.
In person absentee voting begins Wednesday, Oct. 10.
“We will have extended and weekend hours for the in person voting period,” Adams said. “Voters should see our website for those hours. These extended hours are set by the Ohio Secretary of State and are the same for all Boards of Elections in Ohio.”
