Critter Chronicles: Derby

  • http-chronicle-northcoastnow-com-wp-content-uploads-2014-02-DERBYNEW-hounds-png

Derby was rescued from a dog pound after being confined there for almost two months.  We have not had him too long but he does appear housebroken so he probably lived in a home and has his house manners.  Derby seems to basically ignore other dogs but we have not yet had him one on one with another dog.  He has not yet been cat tested but that should be coming soon.  He seems friendly with all the people he has met so far.  We are thinking any kids should be at least early teenagers due to his size.  Derby is a bit of a strong willed dog so he will need a strong handler to let him know what it and is not acceptable.  He is learning to walk nicely on a leash.  He does know a few basic commands and seems to enjoy car rides.  We would prefer a new adopter has a fenced in yard so Derby may enjoy the yard at his leisure without the confinement of being tethered.  He will need a daily walk or a daily jog. This boy is quite the handsome guy and will make a wonderful best friend.
