Elyria Township is placing a Fire Department levy on the March ballot that will replace its current 3-mill levy with a 4-mill levy, an increase of only 1-mill to taxpayers. The current 3-mill levy has been in place for 20 years and is used for firefighting and medical equipment.
If approved, the owner of a $100,000 home will pay $40 more annually. In total, the levy will raise more than $283,000 for the township, which will use the funds to update the needs of the Fire Department.
