ELYRIA — Narcotics detectives recently arrested an Elyria man, who already had a warrant for his arrest on drug trafficking charges, at a Lorain Boulevard motel after finding a bag of heroin and fentanyl concealed in his buttocks.
Maurice Taylor Jr., 23, of the 600 block of Prospect Street, was arrested June 17.
According to a police report, Elyria police narcotics unit detectives were tipped off that Taylor was in the Super 8 Motel at 910 Lorain Blvd. After setting up surveillance, officers saw Taylor leave a first-floor room and get into a black Dodge Charger.
Officers ordered Taylor out of the vehicle and arrested him on the warrant. Taylor then admitted he had a bag of heroin and fentanyl in his buttocks, according to the report.
A cell phone, $294 in cash and a bottle of promethazine — an antihistamine also used to control vomiting and used as a sedative — also were seized, according to the report.
After being read his Miranda rights, Taylor admitted making 300 drug deals per month and said it was his only job and source of income, according to Elyria police.
Taylor, who later was charged with a probation violation, was taken to Lorain County Jail. Arraigned June 18 in Elyria Municipal Court, he is being held in the jail on $15,000 bond, according to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.
