Bicyclist hit by car in Avon Lake


AVON LAKE — A bicyclist was hit by a car Thursday night on Lake Road, west of Miller Road, close to the Sheffield Lake border.

The male cyclist, 66, was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center after being found on a sidewalk.

A news release from Avon Lake police said his condition was unknown.

The driver of the car, a 64-year-old female, was arrested after she fled the scene and is in the process of being charged.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the news release, and more information should be released today.

In May, a bicyclist was hit by a drive at the corner of Lake and Moore roads. The suspected driver, 21-year-old Allison Spoerl, was charged with failure to yield, reckless operation, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, assault, obstruction of official business, tampering with evidence and possession of criminal tools.
