VERMILION — The pretrial has been postponed for the Former Elyria City Councilman Mark Craig, who is accused of groping a guest at his home during a housewarming party in September 2018.
The pretrial, scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, was rescheduled for 9 a.m. July 9, according to the Vermilion Municipal Clerk of Courts.
His trial on the charges are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. July 22.
Craig, 49, who resigned in July last year after 10 years on Council to move to Vermilion, faces three third-degree misdemeanor counts of sexual imposition, according to Vermilion Municipal Court records. The charges came from an alleged incident that took place at a Flint Drive home Sept. 17, during a housewarming party, according to police.
A woman at the party told police Craig “repeatedly groped her,” grabbing her buttocks, vaginal area, breast and pulling her hair, a police report said. The woman said that during a tour of the home, Craig “purposely made sure that she and him were the last ones to leave each room and when no one was looking Craig would grab her butt and hair numerous times.”
