A total of 19 shell casings were recovered at the scene of an overnight drive-by shooting in Lorain.
Police were called at 1:09 a.m. today for shots fired in the area at West 22nd Street and Beech Avenue. At the same time, another police officer on a call at West 20th and Beech reported hearing shots fired as well, according to a police report on the incident.
A woman told police that she was sitting on the front steps of an apartment building on South Central Drive with her son and about six other women when a maroon sport-utility vehicle drove past and opened fire. Nobody was wounded, but two bullet holes were found in the building, and casings from at least three different guns were found at the scene.
The matter remains under investigation.
