Three Lorain County residents are awaiting trial in Richland County after police say they were found to be traveling with more than $1 million in cocaine.

The arrests of German Zuniga, 35, Kylie Newman, 28, and Tyler Newman, 25, were the culmination of an investigation lasting a year and a half and involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

According to a release from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, the three were arrested Feb. 6. Their vehicle, registered to Kylie Newman, was found to have hidden compartments, containing 10 packages of cocaine totaling 11.5 kilograms. Investigators estimated the street value of the cocaine at over $1 million, and believe they were distributing drugs throughout Northeast and North Central Ohio, as part of a pipeline from the Houston area.

The arrests capped off an investigation by the Lorain County Drug Task Force, Homeland Security, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Ohio Highway Patrol and police in Elyria, Lorain and Avon Lake.
