A Vermilion man was killed and three others injured when a car was struck by a semi in Sandusky County on Sunday morning.
Golden Carpenter, 71, of Vermilion, was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion south on state Route 51 in Woodville Township shortly before 10 a.m.
According to a news release, he stopped at a stop sign for U.S. 20 before pulling into the path of a westbound tractor-trailer driven by Dana Richmond, 42, of Toledo. The tractor-trailer struck the driver-side door of the Fusion.
Golden Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene. His front passenger, Dorothy Carpenter, 81, of Vermilion, was transported to Toledo Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A rear-seat passenger, Richard Carpenter, 70, of Lorain, was flown to The University of Toledo Medical Center with serious injuries.
Richmond was transported to Bay Park Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The crash is under investigation; seat belts were used by all parties involved.
