LifeFlight called for injury crash on Route 58 in Amherst Township

    Ohio State Highway Patrol, South Amherst firefighters and Vaughn’s Towing clear up the scene of a crash that sent one person to MetroHealth with head injuries following a crash on Route 58 in front of AutoNation on Tuesday.

One man was taken flown by LifeFlight to a Cleveland hospital following a car crash on Route 58 near the Ohio Turnpike in Amherst Township.

According to state troopers on the scene, a red 2009 Ford Taurus was pulling out of a parking lot onto Route 58 around 11:30 a.m. today when it was broadsided by a silver 2012 Ford Taurus.The driver of the silver Taurus was treated at the scene for head injuries and lost consciousness. He was taken by LifeCare to the Lorain County Airport, and from there flown by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

No names have been released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Traffic was restricted for about 70 minutes during the cleanup.
