Lorain Councilman Angel Arroyo faces charges including operating a vehicle impaired after a car crash Monday night.

Lorain police responded to a car wreck at the intersection of Pearl Avenue and East 28th Street around 10:30 p.m. According to a report, Arroyo said he was making a right turn from Pearl onto East 28th when he was struck by another car. The report states that the front of Arroyo’s car, a 2014 Toyota Scion, was totaled.

The report states Arroyo had red eyes and smelled of alcohol, and exhibited other behaviors typically associated with people who are intoxicated.

Arroyo did not file petitions last month to run for re-election to Lorain council. saying he needed to focus on family issues.
