LORAIN — A domestic dispute turned into a brief standoff with police Sunday morning, according to Lorain police.
Capt. Mike Failing said officers responded to East 33rd Street about midnight after a 911 hang-up call from a woman asking for police. A police report said when officers arrived, Edward Stokes, 24, answered the door and then slammed it in the officers’ faces.
Failing said one of the residents mentioned bringing a gun to shoot the officers, which began the standoff. Officers arrested Stokes after the incident ended in about half an hour. Stokes is charged with obstructing official business, inducing panic, resisting arrest, domestic violence and six counts of unlawful restraint.
Due to Marsy’s Law, the woman’s identity was not made public.
