Lorain police seek public's help in solving two shootings


LORAIN — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in two separate shootings over the weekend in which four people were injured.

At 10:03 p.m. Friday, Lorain police received 911 calls reporting a shooting in the 1300 block of West 17th Street.

Responding officers found 23-year-old resident Aliece Hill and 26-year-old Brandon Atkinson, also of Lorain, with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to Mercy Health Regional Medical Center in Lorain, and later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland for further treatment.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident, according to Lorain police.

The following day, at 2:34 a.m. Saturday, 911 calls were received reporting a shooting at the Off-Shore Pub and Grub, 1407 Colorado Ave.

Two victims, 32-year-old Julian Smith and 34-year-old Charles Mundo, both of Lorain, were found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Smith was found behind a nearby building with multiple gunshot wounds, and Mundo in the middle of Colorado Avenue with one gunshot wound, according to Lorain police.

Police learned there was a fight outside the bar at closing time and that shots were fired and multiple people scattered from the area.

This incident also remains under investigation. Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call the Lorain Police Department Detective Bureau at (440) 204-2100.
