Amherst police are investigating shots into a Maple Avenue home Thursday evening.

According to a news release, police were called for a report of three gunshots on Maple Avenue. Subsequent reports said as many as five shots were fired. The initial report said there was a “lowered” vehicle with a loud exhaust traveling east on Maple Avenue toward Nordson depot at the time of the gunshots. The caller could not give the make, model or color of the vehicle, and police were unable to locate it.

Police found four bullet holes in the front porch windows and siding of a home, and receiving no answer at the door, forced their way in to see if anyone had been injured. The home was unoccupied at the time.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Amherst police at (440) 988-2625.
