A woman was pulled from Lake Erie in Avon Lake after a vehicle allegedly drove into the water near the Miller Road boat ramp Sunday.

A witness called Avon Lake police around 9:27  p.m. Sunday saying a vehicle drove into the water. Rescue workers found a woman, later identified as Bevie Sims, 64, of Maple Heights, floating face down near the pier and began to administer CPR. Sims was taken to the Cleveland Clinic in Avon and from there flown by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

The vehicle, identified by police as a 2013 Chrysler, was extracted from the water, and a search by the Lorain County Dive Team revealed no other people in the water. The incident remains under investigation.
