Elyria man missing

    Peter Mathis was reported missing yesterday after not returning to his Elyria home from an appointment Tuesday.

UPDATE: Peter Mathis was found safe in Michigan.

ELYRIA - Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for an elderly man missing since at least 9 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Elyria police, 61-year-old Peter Mathis left his home in the city around 9 a.m. Tuesday for an appointment in Amherst. 

Mathis never arrived, and left his cellphone behind at home. He has not been heard from, was not located by family and reported missing to Elyria police at approximately 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Mathis reportedly suffers from early-onset dementia, high blood pressure and a heart condition. He was last known to be driving a black 2016 Ford Focus four-door sedan with Ohio license plates 719XSG.
