ELYRIA — A Lorain man has been indicted on a murder charge and other charges in connection with a February altercation that led to the death of another man.
Francisco Rojas Jr., 18, was indicted on counts of murder, first-degree felony voluntary manslaughter and second-degree felony felonious assault and two counts of aggravated riot by a Lorain County grand jury, according to an indictment released Wednesday.
Assistant County Prosecutor Dave Muhek said the indictment stemmed from a Feb. 17 incident that took place on Highland Park Boulevard in Lorain.
“The victim died as a result of an altercation with the defendant and a couple other juveniles,” Muhek said. “The individual suffered a head injury, which ultimately resulted in his death.”
Lorain police have said the victim, William Miller, 47, of Lorain, attempted to break up a fight about 11 a.m. in the 1000 block of Highland Park Boulevard that was the result of “an argument about a girl” when he suffered some sort of medical emergency and was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland where he later died.
