UPDATE: Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the driver as David Lodata, 45, of Toms River, New Jersey. He was reportedly cited for failure to control, but drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. Lanes reopened around 10 a.m.

A truck crash has closed multiple lanes of traffic on the westbound Turnpike near the Elyria exit.

Emergency workers were called to the scene of a crash around 8:15 a.m. after a truck hit a guardrail and scraped against it and the concrete barrier on the overpass above Route 57 before coming to a stop on the other side of the overpass. The driver, who has not been identified, was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for treatment.

Rescue workers have been on the scene since cleaning up leaking fuel. Police said the driver had filled up shortly before the crash.
